A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE IN SUPERIOR COSMETIC DENTISTRY

At Simply Beautiful Smiles, cosmetic dentistry is what we do best. To us, dentistry is an art form.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers represent one of the most exciting new areas in cosmetic dentistry. Whether for a single tooth or even a whole new smile such as with our “Smile Makeovers”, porcelain veneers can transform average-looking teeth into glamorous, beautiful smiles. These thin facades of porcelain are very popular for people with irregular, chipped, or discoloured teeth. The process of applying porcelain veneers is less invasive than many other dental procedures.

Porcelain laminate veneers usually require a minimal amount of tooth preparation, over which a thin (usually less than 1mm) veneer of porcelain is bonded to the tooth. This procedure usually requires just two visits and is very conservative. Single tooth reconstruction or a whole new smile can be achieved in this fashion. We like our patients to be aware of the tremendous changes taking place in dentistry today. As well as the traditional porcelain dental veneers, there are new approaches and systems currently available in dentistry that offer a new approach to dental veneers, making them more conservative than ever before.

COSMETIC BONDING

Chipped, worn and disfigured teeth can often be corrected with cosmetic bonding, a process where tooth-coloured filling materials are adhered to the missing portion of the tooth or used to fill gaps or spaces. In some cases, cosmetic bonding can be used to hide or change the colour of the teeth.

Although not as long-lasting as porcelain, Cosmetic Bonding is the method of choice when an immediate result with minimal cost is required. It is very conservative, and as you can see, the results can be quite dramatic. In fact, many of our patients report that this simple and relatively inexpensive procedure has given them the confidence to smile for the first time in years!

SASSYSMILES

If you have worn, chipped, discoloured, misaligned or mis-shapen teeth, SassySmiles® may be an option for you. SassySmiles is a veneer system developed by our very own Dr John Wells, with a large Sydney laboratory, Davis Advanced Dental Prosthetics and is made right here in Sydney.

It may be an option for those on a budget, though the system is not suitable for all smile makeover cases. They may be an option when minimal tooth preparation is required, and also where customisation of tooth characteristics are not as important to the wearer.
SassySmiles veneers utilise a thin porcelain veneer which is bonded to the tooth. The porcelain used is very similar to the beautiful, strong porcelain that is used for more traditional veneer systems. The veneers are natural looking and deceptively strong and resilient, and we can customise the veneers to give you that “Hollywood” blockbuster smile, or a naturally bright smile. The whole process can be finalised in just a few weeks.

Following are just some examples of how we have helped people attain a more beautiful, natural smile using our very own SassySmiles.

The cost savings come about because of the minimum tooth preparation and tooth customisation by the dentist. The laboratory is also able to make this type of veneer with less time spent by the technician. These costs savings are then passed onto our client.

This procedure usually requires just a few visits over just 2-3 weeks and in many cases, can be very conservative.

SassySmiles is not suitable for everyone, so we offer a complimentary smile evaluation to determine suitability. For more information, or to arrange your complimentary consultation, get in touch below.

PORCELAIN BRIDGES, CROWNS & FILLINGS

PORCELAIN CROWNS

Did you know that the loss of just one tooth has a “domino effect” not just from each side of the missing tooth, but also top or bottom?

Before you enter the inevitable cycle of losing even more teeth, why not restore the natural function of your mouth with fixed prosthetics (crowns and bridges)?
Sometimes, a tooth is so badly damaged that a crown is the treatment of choice in order to save a tooth. A crown is made which fits over the top of the remaining part of the tooth. If the crown is well made, no one should be able to tell the difference between the crown and your real teeth.

PORCELAIN BRIDGES

Sometimes, it is impossible to save any tooth structure, and there is a gap of one or more teeth. Maybe several teeth in close proximity are missing. In these cases a bridge can be constructed. The bridge is anchored to the surrounding tooth on each side of the missing tooth (teeth) and in this way the gap is closed (or bridged). In this way, the gap is closed (bridged), the bite is stabilised, and with good hygiene, the result should be not only aesthetic, but also long-lasting.

The below photographs show examples of Bridging Techniques being used together with Bonding Techniques, Veneers and/or Whitening Techniques to improve the overall appearance of the smile in general.

PORCELAIN FILLINGS – INLAYS

Another valuable use of porcelain for the cosmetic dentist is in the making of porcelain inlays. This is particularly so when a filling is quite large, but not large enough to warrant the making of a crown. It is also an excellent alternative to mercury or amalgam fillings.

Advances in Porcelain Technology

A great deal of skill is required to create the aesthetic qualities of the restorative work, so that the difference cannot be detected by others. Dr Wells and Dr Peterson rely heavily on the quality of the laboratory work that goes into making the fixed prosthetics, as well as the quality of the materials used. We have chosen our dental laboratories carefully, to ensure that you get the very best dentistry that is available.

There is a huge difference in costing for the different materials and laboratory used. Dr Wells and Dr Peterson will assist you in making the decision that best suits both your needs and your wants. The laboratories used by Simply Beautiful Smiles are all Australian, and produce work of a very high standard, whilst maintaining strict infection control protocol for your safety.

Advances in porcelain technology have made beautiful, life-like tooth artistry available like never before. This new generation of revolutionary systems in aesthetic dentistry, allow for beautifully aesthetic full porcelain restorations and full porcelain crowns like never before. These systems include IPS Empress™, Prettau™ Zirconia systems, Zircon-Zahn™, Williglass™ porcelains, Zirconia and Cergo™. Dr Wells and Dr Peterson will choose which material best suits your wants and needs.

TEETH WHITENING

Teeth whitening is a procedure using a dental bleaching solution that has been especially selected to accommodate your unique oral chemistry and enamel.

Depending on the technique selected, whiter teeth can be yours in as little as 60 minutes, or up to 14 days! Dr Wells and Dr Peterson will prescribe the method best suited to your individual wants and needs.

We believe that everyone can achieve a beautiful smile with bright, white teeth. Next to relief from pain, teeth whitening is our number one service that results in total patient satisfaction.

Our doctors often recommend some form of whitening before working on an individual tooth or several teeth as part of a smile makeover. This is because the overall smile can first be brightened, and then the cosmetic procedures can be matched to the new brightened smile. The following case is just such an example:

This case highlights the prior use of teeth whitening combined with bonding and contouring procedures. Overall, a stunning result for a very simple Smile Makeover.

If you choose to use home teeth whitening, we will make custom trays to fit your teeth perfectly ensuring comfort and ease during the process. The bleaching takes place usually at night while you sleep, or a few hours each day in the privacy of your home. Your transformation to a new smile is complete in just a few days or up to two weeks.

Many people find teeth whitening to be easy and convenient because most of the treatment can be done at home. Naturally, we will closely monitor the results and work with you along the way for ideal results.

Should sensitivity be an issue following treatment, we have special products called Tooth Mousse that are available to quickly and easily treat this. Just place the mixture in the previously provided trays at your convenience for a few minutes. Short term sensitivity is common and easily treated in this way.

There are many factors which contribute to tooth discolouration. It may be extrinsic (surface) staining caused by the elements of our lifestyle, for example, drinking tea, coffee and wine, and smoking tobacco. This staining can be reduced by using a whitening toothpaste.

The other type of discolouration is intrinsic. It’s a result of natural defects, tooth trauma, or can possibly be caused by medicines. Intrinsic discolouration can only be removed by using a professional tooth whitening treatment, which is only available from your dental professional.

Research has shown that all the methods we offer provide a safe, easy to use and extremely effective way to whiten your teeth.

INVISALIGN, A CLEAR ALTERNATIVE

Simply Beautiful Smiles is a fully accredited and certified Invisalign® provider, using breakthrough technology to give you the smile you’ve always wanted – without the hassle of braces.

There are no ugly, uncomfortable bands, brackets or wires, to catch on lips, cheeks and tongue. Instead, Invisalign is a virtually invisible system of a series of clear, removable aligners that straighten your teeth sooner than you think. Simply change them about every two weeks and your teeth will move – little by little – toward the smile you have always wanted.

These clear aligners can be removed allowing you to eat your usual favourite foods, and still maintain optimal oral health by allowing you to properly brush and floss your teeth normally to keep your teeth and gums healthy. And unlike braces, the aligners can also be removed for special occasions!

It is important to note that to manage complex, multifaceted cases, we may refer you to an orthodontist.
