CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 29th March 2020 – IMPORTANT CONTACT DETAILS

From the desk of Dr John Wells, Sunday 29th March 2020 – Important Contact Details

Hello to all of patients, colleagues, auxiliary services providers and our greater community.

In these uncertain times of the COVID-19 “health emergency” my team and I wish you well, safety and let’s all hope, a speedy, healthful outcome for all of us.  For the sake of all of our lives and all of our livelihoods we need to continue to work together. Throughout my life starting as a child immigrant, to spending the last 40 years involved with dentistry in this wonderful country, and reflecting upon my nearly 60 years of life experience, I continue to see the indomitable spirit of the people of this proud land. Mateship and a sense of community is the weld that unites us.

On Saturday 28th March 2020, The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), implemented Level 3 Scope of Practice, which limits the types of dentistry we can perform and strongly recommends the adoption of certain guidelines.

If you have an appointment with Simply Beautiful Smiles over the course of March and April 2020, we will be in touch with you to assist you through this process.

Our office will have reduced business hours effective beginning Tuesday 31 March 2020, until further notice. The current Level 3 guidelines are to remain in place as directed by AHPPC until Thursday 30th April, unless directed otherwise.

However, as an Essential Services Provider, the Simply Beautiful Smiles team has decided to remain available to treat emergency and urgent dental needs. To enable a functional service, under these strict guidelines, and in the best interests of our community, our patients’ well-being and the safety of our team members, we have adopted the following protocols:

  1. Our Dental Office is will open on a limited basis by appointment only, to limit the amount of people at the office and observe strict social-distancing protocols.  Limiting our opening times in this way we can manage the measures needed to be implemented to comply with the stringent guidelines and protect our patients and team.
  2. You may leave a message on our answering machine if you wish. As our office attendance has been limited as has the rest of the community movement, this means a review of these messages will be less frequent. An email message to our office will be attended to on a more regular basis. However, we would ask for your patience and respect in this matter.  Our email address for all matters with regards to appointments etc is [email protected]
  3. Procedures are in place to triage our patients needs and we will endeavour to keep our treatment appropriate and wherever possible minimal. In some cases that may mean treating the immediate concern and rescheduling for further care as necessary.
  4. Routine dental treatment has been paused and deferred by government mandate.

As health-care professionals we are governed by regulatory authorities that look out for the interests of all of us. We will continue to provide what care we can until directed otherwise.  We will continue to provide updates and keep in touch via our Blog page or through our Facebook page.

From me, and my entire team, please look after yourself and your families. Stay home and stay safe where you can.

Our regards, as always

John
